The Chemical Exchange Page

The Chemical Exchange Page is a service provided solely for laboratory faculty and staff at the University of Maryland's College Park campus. The Department of Environmental Safety provides no guarantees as to the purity and integrity of chemical substances offered below.

Chemicals offered for exchange must be in original unopened containers. They must not have exceeded any listed shelf life or expiration date. Explosives, shock-sensitive chemicals or materials listed as controlled substances by the Drug Enforcement Agency may not be offered for exchange.

Contact Environmental Affairs if you are interested in offering a chemical for exchange.

Transportation of exchanged chemicals is only permitted within the confines of the College Park campus. Individuals accepting surplus chemicals are responsible for packaging and transportation. Containers must be placed in unbreakable secondary containers during transportation. DES Hazardous Waste Management (HWM) personnel are available for transportation of containers larger than 1 gallon.
