University of Maryland's Asbestos Inventory is online, arranged by Building Name or by Building Number. There are additional materials that might contain asbestos.
The FY09 Asbestos Management Plan is now available. The Asbestos Abatement Inventory Correction Form must be completed by contractors immediately after removal of asbestos-containing materials in UM facilities and submitted to Environmental Safety through the UM Project Manager. University employees who remove asbestos-containing materials from UM facilities must complete the Operation & Maintenance Asbestos Reduction Form. Personnel with Asbestos Responsibilities at the University of Maryland have many duties. University workers or ex-workers who document that they intentionally conducted asbestos-disturbing work (removal, encapsulation, or other activities that are currently restricted to authorized Level II employees), or who were in the immediate area while such work was conducted, are eligible for enrollment into the Asbestos Medical Surveillance Program for Previous Exposure.
The UM Asbestos Operations And Maintenance Manual contains procedures for working with asbestos materials. The Asbestos Training Manuals are now available for employees attending EPA-accredited training through the State Asbestos Control Program.Additional information is available in our Asbestos Fact Sheet and Asbestos Management Fact Sheet. The Asbestos Fact Sheet is also available in spanish. |
