Agency Safety & Health Specialists:

The individuals at the University of Maryland with one or more of the following specific duties:

  1. Maintains asbestos management plans and periodic inspection reports,
  2. Maintains accurate records concerning asbestos- related activities,
  3. Inspects asbestos-related jobs for the purpose of ensuring safe work practices, clean-up and disposal,
  4. Investigates suspected asbestos hazards with appropriate follow-up as required,
  5. Implements asbestos awareness training and automotive asbestos worker retraining,
  6. Participates in facility Safety & Health committees,
  7. Consults with appropriate agencies and personnel as required concerning asbestos-related matters, and
  8. Completes a 16-hour training course provided by State Asbestos Control Program personnel.
